Gladsaxe Stadium
Gladsaxe Stadium is a multifunctional sports venue located in Gladsaxe Municipality, just northwest of central Copenhagen, Denmark. Known for its community-centered design and recent modernizations, it serves as the home field for the Nordic Storm of the European League of Football (ELF), among other local teams and events.

History and Renovation[edit | edit source]
Gladsaxe Stadium was originally constructed in 1938 and has long been a central part of the local sports infrastructure. Initially built to support football (soccer) and athletics, the venue underwent several small upgrades throughout the 20th century.
A major renovation project began in late 1998, leading to the construction of a new main stand with upper and lower tiers, enhanced spectator amenities, and sponsor facilities. The updated stadium was officially reopened under the name Gladsaxe Stadion on September 12, 1999.
While the core structure remains from that period, various minor updates have taken place in the following years to maintain usability for multiple sports, including the growing presence of American football.
Features and Capacity[edit | edit source]
The stadium features a grass pitch surrounded by a running track and has a spectator capacity of 13,507, with seating for 7,707. The venue is equipped with floodlights, media facilities, and designated VIP and press areas.
In addition to the main field, the sports complex includes training areas, a clubhouse, and access to adjacent indoor facilities. The stadium’s multi-use design allows it to host a variety of sporting and community events.
Ownership[edit | edit source]
Gladsaxe Stadium is owned by Gladsaxe Municipality, which oversees its maintenance and public use. While historically the stadium has been used primarily by local soccer clubs, recent years have seen a shift toward diversified use under municipal and regional sports partnerships.
Multifunctional Usage[edit | edit source]
With growing interest in American football and other non-traditional sports in Denmark, the stadium has increasingly been used for international events, school competitions, and even cultural festivals. Its flexible infrastructure has made it suitable for both sports and public gatherings, including concerts and civic celebrations.
Home of Nordic Storm[edit | edit source]
Since joining the European League of Football, the Nordic Storm have made Gladsaxe Stadium their official home ground. The ELF team has attracted significant local and national attention, bringing a new fanbase to the venue. Matchdays see the stadium transformed into a vibrant hub of activity, with tailgates, food vendors, and merchandise stands enhancing the game-day experience.
The stadium’s design has been gradually adapted to better support American football, including field markings and improved broadcast arrangements.
Accessibility and Transportation[edit | edit source]
Gladsaxe Stadium is conveniently located with multiple options for access, making it a popular venue for fans coming from both the Copenhagen metropolitan area and beyond.
Accessibility[edit | edit source]
The stadium is wheelchair-accessible and includes reserved seating areas for persons with disabilities. Ramps, elevators, and accessible restrooms have been included as part of the recent renovation efforts.
Public Transportation[edit | edit source]
The stadium is well-served by Copenhagen’s public transport network. Bus lines frequently connect the venue with nearby S-train stations, such as Buddinge and Søborg, offering direct access from downtown Copenhagen. Travel time from the city center is typically under 30 minutes.
Car and Parking[edit | edit source]
On-site parking is available for both fans and staff, though spaces can be limited on game days. Additional parking facilities are located nearby, with temporary overflow areas opened during large events. Signage and attendants help manage traffic flow during peak hours.
