Südstadion

Südstadion is a football stadium in Cologne, Germany with an 11,748 capacity including 1,863 covered seats.[1] It was the home stadium of the Cologne Centurions from 2021 to 2023. The name Südstadion translates to South Stadium, referring to the location in the South of Cologne.

The stadium is mainly used by the soccer club Fortuna Köln, currently in the fourth division Regionalliga West. Other previous users included the 1. FC Köln woman soccer team and the local football teams Cologne Falcons and Cologne Crocodiles. The stadium also has athletics facility, including a 400 meter running track.

The stadium was opened on January 15, 1978. It was mainly built to host the football clubs of the south of Cologne, suitable for the soccer 2. Bundesliga. Renovations took place in 2012, adding a new stand roof, new floodlights, new sounds system, sanitary installations and also ticket booths.

The Cologne Centurions played a total of twelve games in Südstadion and won five of those.[2] Attendance was between 820 and 2560.

Transport connection[edit | edit source]

Südstadion is located almost directly at the stop Pohligstraße of line 12 of the Stadtbahn Köln. The nearest regional train station is the Köln Süd station, about one kilometer to the north. Due to the inner-city location, different access routes can be convenient by car depending on the direction of travel.
