On the same day, it was announced Frankfurt will use the previous name of Frankfurt Galaxy. [2]

2025 Season[edit | edit source]

After the 2024 season, Head Coach Kösling moved to the position of Sports Director [3]. Bart Andrus was presented as his successor as Head Coach on October 27, 2024 [4]. Andrus was most recently HC of the Philadelphia Stars in the USFL and won the World Bowl with the Amsterdam Admirals in 2004.

On April 7, 2025, Frankfurt Galaxy announced that it would return to the old colors of the franchise, orange & purple, under the motto “Galaxy reloaded”.

“We want to bring our history back to life while channeling the spirit of NFL Europe into the present day,” says Eric Reutemann, CEO of Frankfurt Galaxy. “Orange is a symbol of our roots - and of our determination to set the standard in this league today.” [5]

2024 Season[edit | edit source]

In the off-season ahead of the 2024 season, the Galaxy announced the departure of quarterback Jakeb Sullivan and offensive coordinator Patrick Griesheimer. Luke Zahradka (formerly Milano Seamen) was signed as the new quarterback, while the services of offensive coordinator Frank Roser (formerly Raiders Tirol and Cologne Centurions) were secured.

A home game was played for the first time in 2024 at the Bieberer Berg stadium in neighboring Offenbach am Main. An agreement was reached with Frankfurt Universe in June 2024 and Matthew McKay was signed as the new quarterback in early July to replace the injured Luke Zahradka. The Galaxy only managed four wins in twelve games, making it their worst season to date.

2023 Season[edit | edit source]

Frankfurt Galaxy played in the Western Conference against teams from Hamburg, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Paris and in interconference games against Fehérvár Enthroners and Milano Seamen. They finished the regular season with a 10-2 record, while winning the Wild Card round against Berlin Thunder. They lost the semi-final against Rhein Fire 23-42 and extended the contract with Head Coach Thomas Kösling by one year during the season.

2022 Season[edit | edit source]

In May 2022, the Zeitfracht Group joined the Galaxy as sponsor and owner. Zeitfracht provides the team with a Galaxy-designed aircraft for away games.

In the rematch of the NFL Europe's German derby against the re-established Rhein Fire, the Galaxy again started the second season with a loss. They also lost on the second day of play against another ELF newcomer, the Vienna Vikings, with quarterback Sullivan injured. The team got stronger as the season went on and kept a playoff chance until the final day, but then finished the regular season in third place in the Central Conference.

2021 Season[edit | edit source]

The Galaxy played their first game in the 2021 season against the Hamburg Sea Devils. So it came after almost exactly 14 years to the renewed meeting of these two teams, the game was lost with 17:15. Then followed five wins in a row, before it came to the return match against the Sea Devils. This time they won 35:9. This was followed by two more wins against the Panthers Wrocław and the Barcelona Dragons, which secured the lead in the South Division. On the last matchday of the South Division, they defeated the Cologne Centurions with 45:7. Already in the following week, both teams faced each other again in the play-offs (Division Finals). With a 36:6 victory they were crowned Division South Champions and secured their participation in the Championship Game. They won the championship game 32:30 against the Hamburg Sea Devils and became the first ELF champions. The team won the championship game.
