The team was announced at 19th May 2023 at the Season 3 Kick Off Press Confernce as Madrid ELF Team. The name and logo of the new franchise were be announced on September 26, 2023.

The team is organized by the capital company Marlos Sports 2022 SL. General manager is Jaime Martín. [1] Teams in the highest Spanish league LNFA from the Madrid area announced cooperation with the new franchise. [2]

On Oct. 25, 2023, the franchise announced that veteran coach Rip Scherer will be their head coach for the 2024 season. [3]

2024 Season[edit | edit source]

In the Western Conference, the Bravos 2024 competed against the Hamburg Sea Devils, Paris Musketeers, Frankfurt Galaxy, Cologne Centurions and Rhein Fire.

Their interconference rivals were the Barcelona Dragons. The Madrid Bravos have already been able to introduce several high-caliber players in their first off-season. In addition to wide receiver William Patterson, edge rusher Alejandro Fernandez also transferred from Rhein Fire to the Spanish franchise.

The Bravos started their franchise history with a win in the Spanish derby against Barcelona. This was followed by a surprising victory at reigning champions Rhein Fire. It was only in the return game two weeks later that the Bravos suffered their first defeat. However, the Bravos continued to impress in the following games and ultimately finished third in the Western Conference with eight wins and four losses.

This earned them a place in the playoffs. There they faced Rhein Fire for the third time in the wild card round. The Bravos were clearly defeated by the defending champions by 10:40.

After the season, Head Coach Rip Scherer left the team for personal reasons. Assistant Head Coach Mac McWhorter (retirement) and Offensive Coordinator Dave Warner (moved to the Prague Lions as Head Coach) also left the franchise.

Andrew Weidinger became the new Head Coach on October 1, 2024. Weidinger was previously Offensive Coordinator of Rhein Fire for two years and Head Coach of the Barcelona Dragons in 2022. [4]
