History[edit | edit source]

The stadium was opened in 2005, replacing the old Wedaustadion, which had been the home of MSV Duisburg since 1921. The construction of the new arena was part of the redevelopment of the Duisburg Sportpark. Since 2010, it has carried the name Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena due to a sponsorship agreement with the travel company Schauinsland-Reisen.

Structure and Facilities[edit | edit source]

The Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena is a modern, all-seater stadium with covered stands and modern facilities. The stadium features:

  • A total capacity of 31,500 seats
  • 41 VIP boxes
  • Two large video screens
  • A press area with state-of-the-art media facilities
  • Floodlighting system for night games

Location and Accessibility[edit | edit source]

The stadium is located in the south of Duisburg, in the Neudorf district, within the Duisburg Sportpark. It is well connected by public transportation:

Train: The S-Bahn line S1 stops at Duisburg-Schlenk station, which is a 10-minute walk from the stadium.

Bus: Several bus lines (939, 934, and 944) provide direct access to the stadium.

Car: The stadium is accessible via the A3 and A59 motorways. The price for parking on a game day is 5€. [1] However, parking around the stadium is limited, and the use of public transport is recommended.

The team previously played at the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Düsseldorf but relocated to Duisburg to establish a dedicated fan base in the Ruhr region. Since then, the stadium has hosted several key ELF games, including playoff matches.

User Feedback[edit | edit source]

Written by u/FlagFootballSaint

Getting there by public transport from the city is a bit iffy and the stadium is out there on the boundaries so you can‘t hang out in bars before/after but at least it‘s nicely located in a wooded area

Good area to have a pre-game festivity arranged by the organizers right by the stadium

Concessions are stadium-level so it is what it is.

Perfect view from each seat

Duisburg as such is one of the most forgettable cities/towns I have ever been (and as an international business traveler I have seen a lot) and Hotels are few and level is so-so

Pro Tip for hanging out in the evening: Webster Brauhaus
