Switzerland
Switzerland, is a landlocked country located in west-central Europe. It is bordered by Germany to the north, Austria and Liechtenstein to the east, Italy to the south, and France to the west. It has a population of nine million. The largest cities are Zรผrich, Geneva, and Basel.
The first American Football teams in Switzerland were the Lugano Seagulls founded in 1982. After other football teams formed in the following years, Swiss Bowl I was played in 1986. The most successful teams are the Zurich Renegades, the Bern Grizzlies, and the Calanda Broncos. The Broncos, based in Chur, won a EuroBowl in 2012 and the EFAF Cup in 2019.

In the preseason press conference for the 2022 season, the Helvetic Guards were presented as expansion team for the 2023 season, along the Milano Seamen and the Fehรฉrvรกr Enthroners. Although the league presented the Guards as Zurich team, the franchise saw itself as a team for all of Switzerland. The Mercenaries replaced the Guards in April 2024, absorbing most of the staff and players.
